FINALIST!

It all begins with an idea.

Born to Shine is delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted as finalists for Northamptonshire Community Foundation’s Annual Awards 2024.

We have been shortlisted for the Tackling Inequalities Award, for our Autism Swim Programme. This programme has allowed us to train both independent swim instructors and SEND teachers in the STA approved Autism Swim training as well as run sessions.

“We are thrilled to have been nominated as we know this will bring more awareness of the issues around water safety for those with Autism.” Sapphire Tuckfield

The Annual Awards, hosted by Northampton Community Foundation, are a chance to celebrate the incredible work carried out by committed volunteers and community organisations across all four corners of the county.

This year’s ceremony, which will take place on Thursday 28th November at the Royal Theatre, will give attendees the opportunity to come together in their recognition of those who work tirelessly to give back to their local community. We are very much looking forward to meeting other groups and organisations and looking at the wonderful achievements within our community.

Honoring our Volunteers

It all begins with an idea.

We rely heavily on the generosity of our volunteers and thank them for everything they do for us. One of our volunteers has been nominated for the Lady Townsend Award and we are delighted to announce that they have been shortlisted as finalists for Northamptonshire Community Foundation’s Annual Awards 2024.

“I never thought that volunteering would bring me so much joy. I have loved working with the young children and adults and seeing the world a new through their eyes. I didn’t expect to be nominated for anything and am very grateful to have been nominated.” Linda

We wish Linda good luck and thank Northamptonshire Community Foundation for the opportunity for us to highlight the great work our volunteers do.

Inspirational Women Award

It all begins with an idea.

Northamptonshire Community Foundation have partnered with AVON to present a special inspirational woman’s award at the NCF 2024 Annual Awards evening.

In Northamptonshire we are surrounded by inspirational woman, I myself am inspired every day by the dedication of people like Lesley Johnson who takes such care and time to ensure any musicbugs sessions we run cater to each child’s needs or Heather Saint who is able to to allow the children and young people in her Karma Kids sessions to find ways to express themselves in a safe environment. I have been lucky enough to be nominated for this award and am truly grateful. As other mum’s who have children with additional needs will understand, I strive to make the world a better place for my child and others like her, and ensure that she never has to feel as though she doesn’t belong. She is my driving force and I thank everyone around me for helping me to achieve those goals through charitable work. I thank Maddee Blair for helping us set up inclusive tennis sessions and Lisa Ward for agreeing to be trained in the STA Autism swim qualification. Without these women we would not be able to do all of the wonderful things we have done. I am especially grateful to Lucy Somers who helped guide me and help me navigate a new view on the world when my daughter was born. She and I started Peak Empower together and have seen it grow and now blossom into a partnership with Born to Perform under the new name Born to Shine, working alongside Kimberley Carey and Charlotte Ashby who again inspire me daily with their passion for empowering young people to express themselves, build their confidence, and unlock their true potential.

All of these women inspire me to do more, be better and continue to be the woman I want my daughter to be proud of.
